Legends out now, and if you like this demo you may as well pick it up, as a Diablo III demo probably won't make it onto the disc until some time next year. It's a bit weird, but you can find some joy in the reasonably individual character progression system, and there's something to be said for a demo that lasts longer than half an hour. This quest involves a great deal of clicking in a small period of time, and you'll find yourself killing just about everything fantasy-ish, including wolves, goblins, and even a rather campsounding highwayman who has blocked the way into town with a tree. The storyline involves dwarves, portals, more elves, great evils, and searching for the 'Hand of God', the only thing that can save the kingdom. You play as a floppy haired novice, guided by his light elf companion (that's a fairy to you and me), slashing the life out of everything in your way and completing errands, as you'd expect to do in any normal RPG.

It more swings near, within at least a few metres, misses, but gets up with a big smile that says 'Hey, I tried.' We've had Sacred, Sacred 2: Fallen Angel, Titan Quest (and an expansion), Mythos (dearly departed), and now Legend: Hand of God, DTP'S effort to take on Blizzard. It's Almost As if the whole industry knew that Diablo III was coming way before it was even announced.

When it comes down to it, there's only one thing this humble scribe will be remembering from Legend: Hand of God - and that is that bottom-slappingly awful faerie cursor. So insipid, in fact, that it is a struggle to recall much that is actually specific about it, with even the combat being stripped down to monotonous left clicking. Other than some niggles with the camera and the controls, it's all quite bland and inoffensive. And so on.ДЇor the undemanding player, there is all one would need to wile away a few hours - a reasonable pseudo-class system, a decent amount of loot to be gathered, pleasant graphics and a relatively large game world to romp about in.
